500K pots are the standard for humbuckers, 250K are generally used for single coil pickups. A 250K gives a slightly warmer sound than a 500K, and attenuates some of the high frequencies to ground. However, if you want to keep the high frequencies, it is possible to correct this attenuation with treble bleed.
Note: If you are not sure if your guitar uses a short (3/8") or long (3/4") shaft, please check before ordering. As a general rule, this pot will fit most guitars made in the U.S. and Mexico, but it is always safer to check the bushing diameter and pot height.
If your guitar is an import... and you want to update the pots, you may have to enlarge the diameter of the holes on the body very slightly.
When installing the knobs, be sure to pinch the end of the shaft before installing them, this will prevent you from jamming them or knocking the shaft off the pots. If this hasn't happened to you before...

CTS Push Pull Pots, DPDT allows you to add a switch to your guitar without adding a hole. On these high quality CTS Push Pull pots, the switch contacts are on the side, not the back. This means they are shorter, allowing them to fit most guitars without drilling holes - 1 inch deep cavity is all that is needed.
The two-pole, two-position switch offers many wiring options. Pull the switch to mute a humbucker, turn a pickup on/off, or control anything: the switch is electrically separate from the control pot.
CTS has worked hard to develop these unique control pots. In addition to their space saving size, they feature a longer life brass shaft and a resistance tolerance of ±10%.
Their precision audio cone provides a smoother, more accurate response than economy pots. Volume increases smoothly from 0 to 10, with no abrupt changes.
