  • What is a Treble Bleed ?
A treble bleed is a capacitor coupled to a resistor in parallel or in series or both in parallel and in series. It is found on the treble bleed circuit of the American Fender Professional. This system is nowadays very frequently installed by professional or amateur guitarists looking for a particular sound.

    Installation of a Treble Bleed:
Simply solder the treble bleed circuit to the input and output terminals of your volume control. Cut the capacitor wires to length, add the heat shrink tubing if you're using it (it only serves to protect the wires from contacting the back of the pot, which serves as a ground), and solder them in place as shown in the wiring diagram.

Adding a treble bleed will keep your tone clear.
One of the common problems with guitars is the frustration of losing too much treble when the volume control is turned down, making the sound muddy and hazy. Of course, this is what happens when you attenuate the signal further. However, some players want to keep those high notes as much as possible. Fortunately, this problem is easily solved by installing a treble bypass capacitor (known as a treble modulator) in the circuit. As the name implies, a treble bypass allows the treble to bypass the pot load, sending it directly to the output. What is commonly referred to as a "treble bypass" circuit consists of a small capacitor and a resistor that connect to the input and output terminals of the volume control. When installed on a volume control, the high frequencies bypass the pot resistor and go directly to the output.
